Dr. Megan Settell and PhD student Ashlesha Deshmukh spearheaded the process of characterizing sources of neural appearing artifact in stimulation evoked compound action potentials (ECAP). In order to improve Spinal ECAP recordings these two WITNe scientists led teams over multiple years to identify recording contaminations from capacitive artifact, short latency EMG, and motion artifact. By including these confounds in reported data a better framework can be developed for more comprehensive and applicable ECAP data moving forward.
